Sydney Holidays

Hope you are all having a lovely week. Last night, while watching the Australian Open, Paul and I were discussing how apart from last January when I was pregnant, for the past few years, we have been in Sydney, watching the tennis from our lovely hotel room. We were thinking about doing another visit there again this year but have decided to hold off until Grace is a little bit older.

Aside from the usual touristy things and wonderful markets, whenever we visit Sydney, we are sure to set aside some time to simply wander around the streets in our favourite suburb of Paddington and its surrounding areas. It's lovely to admire the gorgeous terrace houses, trying to picture what the interiors are like and to browse in the quaint little shops I drag Paul into. When we next go to Sydney, I have a new list of shops I hope to visit including Donna Hay's General Store in Woollhara. What's your 'must see' Sydney shop that you love to browse around or are yet to visit?

  1. Hi Amanda:) How lovely to see a pic of you with the Harbour Bridge in the background -it made me a little homesick for Sydney!! There are so many shops I love especially in Paddington and Newtown! But for something a little different - if you like French homewares then Tolle & Crowe in Northbridge is a lovely store with easy parking and of course who could ignore Pigotts Store in Woollahra!! Oh I could go on forever and a day!! Maybe I should just email you a list:) Enjoy watching the tennis, I am loving it!!- Tina x

  3. I've only been to Sydney twice - for two long weekends with the girls. Sadly (for me) most of the weekends were spent in pubs so apart from Darling Harbour I have barely seen Sydney.

I'm hoping to get away with Mr Domestic for a few romantic days at the end of the year. I'll keep an eye out for ideas to visit.

    xx Melissa

  4. Tina - haven't been to those shops before - will have to get in touch with you before we next visit Sydney for that list :)
Anna - yes Cambodia House was one of the lovely stores I visited last time but Cotton Love is a new one for me so will be sure to visit that one.
Melissa - Paul and I loved eating dinner down at Darling Harbour, so many great spots to eat.

  5. I've been thinking about a trip to Sydney this year. I'd like to go to Piggots Store and I do like the Antique Centre (can't remember which suburb). I also like to go to shops we don't have in Tassie - Alannah Hill is one of them.

  6. Hi Sarah, Tina mentioned Piggots Store too - looks like that's one I'll definitely have to visit. Let me know what it's like when you go there :)

  7. Hi Amanda, thanks for stopping by my blog. I've not been blogging for very long and it's lovely to see someone new leave a comment. I will hopefully be making a trip to Sydney and the rest of Australia for my honeymoon. My sister and her family live in Perth and I've never been to visit them. Which part of Australia are you from?

  11. I love trips to sydney! Unfortunately it's been almost two years since I've been but I love wandering around surrey hills and paddington, and woollhara. The Donna Hay store is definitely on my list for my next visit, my parents went there towards the end of last year and brought me back a beautiful little jadeite green bowl. Hope you will get to go back there soon!
